Privacy Policy

Cherly is a wardrobe and styling app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what happens to it.

What we collect

• Your email address, so you can sign in.
• Photos you add — clothing photos and outfit photos. They are stored privately in your account and are only visible to you.
• The wardrobe data derived from those photos (categories, colours, tags), your saved outfits, wear history, events you create, and your style preferences.
• If you turn on calendar sync: the title, time, and place of your upcoming calendar events (see below).
• Your subscription status, so we know which plan you are on.
• Usage and crash data, to find what is broken and what is worth improving.

How AI processing works

When you add a photo, we send it to trusted processors to remove the background and to recognise the garment (currently fal.ai and OpenAI). When you ask for outfit suggestions or chat with the stylist, descriptions of your wardrobe — not your photos — are sent to OpenAI to generate the response. These processors handle your data under their own privacy commitments and do not use it to train their models per our agreements. Your photos are private by default and are never sold.

Sharing you choose

Some features let you share a specific look, poll, or lookbook outside the app. Nothing is ever shared unless you create a share link yourself; only the looks you pick are visible at that link, and anyone with the link can view them. You can stop sharing at any time by deleting the share, the poll, or the lookbook — the link stops working. Poll votes from your friends are stored with the name they choose to enter, if any.

Your calendar

Calendar sync is optional and off until you turn it on in the app and allow calendar access. When it is on, the app reads the next two weeks of events from your phone's calendar — each event's title, date and time, place, and whether it lasts all day — and saves them to your account so Cherlycan plan an outfit for them (for example, dressing up for a wedding or keeping it light for a beach day). The app never adds, changes, or deletes anything in your calendar. When you ask for an outfit for a specific event, its title and type are included in the request to OpenAI to style you. Calendar events are never sent to advertisers. You can turn sync off at any time in Settings → Calendar sync, which also deletes the synced events from your account, or remove calendar access in your phone's settings.

Weather

If you attach a place to an event, we look up the weather forecast for that place to suggest weather-appropriate outfits.

Home-screen widget

The optional iPhone widget shows today's outfit. To do that, the app keeps small copies of the pictured clothes and the outfit's name on your phone, where only the widget can read them. They are not uploaded anywhere.

Measuring our ads

We advertise Cherlyon TikTok and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). To learn which ads bring people to the app, the app tells TikTok and Meta about a few moments: that it was installed and opened, that you finished sign-up, that you opened the plans screen, and that you started or completed a purchase (with its price). With these we send your device's advertising identifier and your Cherlyaccount ID, but on iPhone only if you allow tracking when the app asks — you can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. Your photos, wardrobe, and email address are never sent.

What we never do

We do not sell your data, and we never share your photos, wardrobe, or email address with advertisers.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account from inside the app (Settings → Delete account) or from the deletion page. Deletion removes your photos, wardrobe, and history. It is immediate and permanent.
